Dumézil makes comparisons across Indo-European mythologies to understand the role of the warrior/hero.  We’ll read the first two chapters this week (up to page 70). The book can be hard to find\, unfortunately\, but ask David for a copy if you need one. \nCome prepared to discuss the reading or just to geek out about your favorite mythological hero.

SUMMARY:Cascadia Autumn Equinox
DESCRIPTION:Cascadia Grove will be holding our Autumn Equinox Ritual at Edge of The Circle Books on Sunday September 20th @ 5pm PDT. All folk of good will are invited!\nDavid will be leading our rite. We will honor Athena\, Greek goddess of War\, Weaving\, Skill\, and Cunning\, and Hephaestus\, Greek god of Fire\, Smithing\, and Crafting.\nWe will stream the ritual via zoom for those who are unable to attend in person. This will depend on available bandwidth\, but we will do our best. Parking and building info are at the end of this event description.\nThere will be time in the middle of the ritual for personal offerings. We always have incense on hand for any to use for an offering. If you would like to bring your own\, offerings for Athena might include olives and olive oil\, alcoholic drinks (especially wine)\, and cloth or clothing. Offerings for Hephaestus might include a piece of crafted art. Offerings of song\, dance\, or poetry that relate to our God and Goddess are always welcome. Offerings to other personal gods are also welcome.\nOfferings are optional.\n\nAfter the ritual\, we will have time for questions and discussion. Cascadia Grove is committed to the inclusion of folks of good will. With this in mind\, we ask everyone on this call to practice awareness and sensitivity in regards to conversations about sex\, race\, gender\, sexuality and other protected and marginalized groups. We ask that this time be focused on subjects of Pagan interest. Politics are filling people’s minds a lot these days but we ask that folks keep the conversation apolitical to encourage a purposeful space for matters Pagan.\nWe will do our best to make zoom streaming work\, but tech can be a fickle friend. Streaming has worked so far\, so I expect it to be fine. We will be closing admittance to the Zoom ritual at 5:10.
